Mission: Room Redesign

I just landed my first project and I am very excited, but also a tad anxious. To design someone’s space, you must really understand the client’s requirements, and what look and feel they are expecting, all by keeping the project within the assigned budget and time frame. The task is to transform a fifteen year old den into a stylish and relaxing bachelor room with a relaxed vibe where friends can get together to watch TV, talk, play video games, and just enjoy themselves.

What comes to my mind when I look at the photos are the words drab, brown, blah. I don’t have anything against the color brown, but when everything in the room is a shade of it with no contrast it just becomes too boring. Especially that the room is small – 5m x 6m – the brown is making it feel even smaller.

This is what the room looks like today:

Now I’m off to prepare a detailed design brief to fully understand what is required. Here we go!
